Crispy Green Bean Fries

Crispy crunchy yumminess. Ever been to T.G.I. Fridays? I have. They are all over the east coast. They serve these alongside wasabi ranch dipping sauce and oh man are they good. Who would have ever thought you could make green bean fries? This version is fried, you could always bake them for a healthier version. I was shocked that coating held up so well on them, double dipping is defiantly the key here.

Ingredients
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
a couple large handfuls of fresh green beans, as many as you want to make
1 cup flour

1 cup plain panko bread crumbs
1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/8 garlic powder

1/2 tsp paprika
canola oil for frying (enough to cover beans – about 2 inches or a deep fryer)

Preparation Instructions
Wash and trim your beans (cut ends).
Mix beaten egg with milk in a shallow bowl.
Measure flour into another shallow bowl, add all spices and mix well.
Combine bread crumbs and spices on a plate.
Take a handful of beans, shake excess water, and coat with flour.
Then dip, one at a time, into egg/milk mixture, them back into flour, then egg/milk mixture
Roll into the breadcrumb mixture.  Be sure to cover the whole bean.
Place coated beans on a plate, ready to be fried.
Heat oil to about 350 degrees F in a heavy skillet  or deep fryer to 350 degrees F
Fry until golden brown, about 1 1/2 minutes.
Drain on paper towel.
Serve immediately.

    1. Who'd have thought of it? We have TGIF's in the UK, but I've never seen these little treats. One to try at home it seems. Thanks! :)

    4. Love this idea - especially if it comes out good from the oven.
